Mairead McErlean

Mairead qualified as a solicitor in 2004 and has worked in Geoffrey Leaver’s Commercial Litigation department since qualification. Mairead deals with a variety of contractual and commercial disputes, including building and construction disputes, shareholders disputes and breach of contract claims. Mairead also has particular expertise in dealing with local authority matters. Recent examples of Mairead’s work include:

• Acting for a local manufacturing company in a £2million claim in the Commercial Court.
• Acting for a software and hardware developer in a £2.5million claim against its former partner in joint development agreement. The claim was settled by mediation before the issue of court proceedings.
• Acting for a landlord in dispute with a former tenant of a building regarding responsibility for common parts and vitiation of insurance policies. 

Mairead is known for her clear, concise, commercial advice.

Mairead enjoys clothes and shoes and making tiny canapés. She was trying to learn to play golf but has realised that Mark Twain was right when he described it as “a good walk ruined.”
